The Alexander Technique in everyday life
During the lesson the teacher will use simple everyday activities to explore your individual patterns of movements and reactions.
Using gentle hands – on guidance and verbal instructions you will learn to notice and change your habits that interfere with the innate mechanism for postural support and balance.
It’s main focus is on the inseparable relationship between the head, neck, back and limbs ( so called ‘Primary Control‘) which is critical to the proper functioning of the whole organism.
Through the process of examination and making new conscious choices, you will discover a more natural state and greater freedom as well as a new sense of support in relation to gravity’s downward pull.
By integrating every aspect of a movement into a more harmonious whole and developing a skill of Inhibition and Direction you will be able to create conditions that favor healthy, psychophysical equilibrium.
Over the course of lessons you will learn the fundamental Alexander principles which can be applied to all areas of your life.
Chair work

The pillars of the Alexander Technique: awareness, inhibition, direction as well as other concepts are dealt with while performing this procedure.
By repeating and expanding your new experience of a better coordinated movement (from sitting to standing) and directing your intentions in a constructive way you will learn to manage your physical and emotional responses rather than react in a habitual way.
The other important aspect of this procedure is heightening your awareness of the present moment.
Table work
Lying down on your back with your head resting on a few books and knees bent, the force of gravity will allow the postural muscles to lengthen and the nervous system to quieten down so that excessive tension can be released and natural processes to be restored.
The main objective of this exercise is to help you recognize and explore how the thoughts engaged in this process can affect and re -organize muscle tone throughout the body.
The new experience will eventually be incorporated into your daily activities.
