From Cracow to New York: A Musical Journey
I am a native of Cracow, Poland and come from a family of musicians. I received my Master of Arts degree in organ playing in 1990 from the Academy of Music in Cracow. I then moved to New York City to continue my music education with prof. McNeal Robinson.
While there, I worked as an accompanist, piano teacher and organist/music director in various artistic institutions in the metropolitan area.
In 2000 I started studying the Alexander Technique with Carolyn Serota among other teachers. Over the years I’ve pursued interests in the fields of Positive Psychology and Mindfulness, and also completed a few projects. One of which I’m most proud of is a series of Piano Books for children I wrote and published in Poland.
In 2014 I began my formal teacher training program in NYC first with John Nicholls and then Ann Rodiger (Balance Art Center) before completing it in 2017 at the Alexander Technique Centre Vienna.

In 2021 I established the Alexander Technique Program at the Academy of Music in Cracow and I now divide my time between New York City and Cracow. I have since conducted numerous workshops and continue to maintain my private practice and expand my skills through collaboration with teachers in the USA as well as in Europe.

My story
I first encountered the Alexander Technique while reading „The Art of Practicing” by Madeline Bruser. The author dedicated one paragraph to the technique which sounded quite intriguing but at the same time, somehow very familiar to me as a musician.
Playing an instrument is a highly complex activity which requires great coordination and very refined control of body movements. Like most musicians, I too was looking for ease and freedom of movement which will later translate to freedom of playing.
From the brief description I read, it appeared to me that the technique might help me in that search, so I decided to learn more and signed up for my first lesson.
The impact of the Alexander Technique on my life
Learning a new skill starts with an open mind and taking risks by making new choices that create endless possibilities.
The Alexander Technique was an important part of my music education in NYC but the effects have been much more far reaching and profound.
It provided me with invaluable tools to improve my posture, breathing and transform my instrumental technique, but ultimately the Alexander principles became an integrated part of my everyday life.
My role as a teacher is to ignite a spark and guide you as you discover what the Alexander Technique is, and what it can offer you.
The very essence of change demands coming into contact with the unknown.
